In September 2010, I made my dream of starting my own yoga studio a reality. The terrace of my house was large, surrounded by trees, and I knew it would make a great studio. A few discussions with friends and family, and my studio started taking shape. I wanted it to be a serene, cheerful place - perfect for leaving one's stresses behind and getting in touch with one's inner self through the power of yoga. So I chose a bright yellow for the walls, with large picture windows and surrounded the balconies with flowering plants. I would like to add that my studio fell so beautifully into place thanks to the help of a few friends without whose help my dream could not have materialized so beautifully.
I named it Omkaar.
Omkaar - or 'Om' as we popularly know it - is the sound of the universe and a chant central to yoga.
It has been a wonderful journey so far, and it has given me a new sense of purpose and peace. I wake up each morning looking forward to the day and go to sleep with a sense of enriching fulfillment. Through this blog, I will share with you my thoughts, as well as updates about what I teach, the studio, the events I conduct and the inspirational material I come across on the web.
Do leave your thoughts behind in the comments. :-)
